  their appeal to family values are things i have ascribed to in my adulthood.

  How does God communicate with us?

  in the past, god spoke to humans through angels, prophets, and jesus.

  today, there are no prophets, angels don't show up anymore, and jesus isn't there to speak to us.. we can talk to god through prayer, but how does god talk to us?.

  so, other than the bible which is pretty outdated, how can god communicate with humans?

  Since the age of enlightenment, God appears to be talking to mankind through discovery; technology; education and science....no more room in this society for mysticism.

  The continuing saga of being in love with a Witness

  i don't know how many read my prior post "problems with jw girlfriend and her family", but i feel the need to continue the story as it is very current and is taking quite a toll on both of us.

  she and i also work together at a grocery store, so even if she does/did decide to break things off (because of her parents and the religion) we would still see each other (i'll get to this in a minute).

  we both know that we still love each other and that we deserve to be together, but can this religion be stronger than true love?????

  Does The Thought of Being Disfellowshipped Bother You?

  has being disfellowshipped actually turned into a "blessing"?

  after the 20 odd years I have been away, the years have provided me with a comfortable buffer...I have "come into my own" so to speak....

  If the JWs called me now to say I was going to be disfellowshipped; I suppose my wife and I would crack out a bottle of merlot or perhaps champagne and toast to the event; and we would use the good waterford crystal.. It would be a few good laughs....certainly NO reference point in my life.

  ....although AT ONE time with the elders I had gone to the length of hiring a lawyer to sue them to prevent a disfellowshipping.... my perspective of what is IMPORTANT in life ( my life) has changed.

  a jw cousin of mine called my jw wife today and asked if i saw my new nephew from my jw sister.

  my wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!

  They really believe that they are doing Gods will....the weak minded ones believe that anyway.

  Those who can think for themselves see the inhumanity in it ( imagine if you were asked to shun your own child?) and do not go along with it pleading it is a conscience issue....
